for my next walls I'm thinking of using the DriLyner Fix system as specified in the BG Whitebook. https://www.british-gypsum.com/documents/white-book/british-gypsum-wb-drilyner-fix.pdf

this uses MF10 channels (https://www.british-gypsum.com/products/metal-products/gypframe-mf10-channel#standards) bedded in to dabs of adhesive.

I'm struggling to find alternate manufacturers (as BG are stupidly expensive) for this sort of channel that can be bedded in to adhesive rather than fixed using GL2 brackets.

anyone know of an alternative please? @nod will probably just tell me to dot and dab but I don't want to do that as I'm very very slow and by dabbing the MF10 channels to the walls I can do bits at a time and then plasterboard at my leisure!

It’s a system well used in France I’ve never really seen the point or seen it used here

Gypliner is a quick and easy system for the inexperienced Track on the floor and ceiling Nail your.bracketss 600 apart set your laser to the tracks Open your brackets Cut them off where the laser hits It really as easy as that

The big other name is knauf.

Then there is another  uk manufacture who's name I can't remember. Based Midlands.

BUT I suggest you contact a specialist merchant such as CCF. They will not be tied to one supplier. You will need their sales person, not the counter server.

They will have access to all suppliers and may have own-brand for what you want.

Do not ever mention a maker's name or a product name.

Use generic terms such as wall stud or ceiling channel.

It isn't cheap: much the same price as in timber is a guide.

Yeah. I’ve done the gypliner system without issues, I just wanted to try something different and cheaper as you’re not having to pay for the top and bottom channels and the brackets.
but any savings will be wiped out if I have to use BG products as they’re twice the price of the alternatives

No. About 25%. BG and Knauf can charge more because they can provide test certificates. And often they will be a client requirement because of this certainty.

The competition don't need to pay for laboratories and boffins They just bend metal.

But not double the cost. Try a different supplier. Unless you have to get bco approval.

If you set the vertical Chanel’s at 400 You don’t need a top or bottom Chanel Or of your using 15 mil boards You can stay at 600

That is wonderful information!! I didn’t know that. Didn’t see anything in the white book either but I guess it makes sense.
although I’m using 1800mm x 900mm boards so 400mm centres don’t work for me! 🤦‍♂️

Sure. But can I still use 12.5mm plasterboard with no top and bottom channel? I’m not sure of that as the white book doesn’t say it’s possible.

My knowledge of the French industry is limited, but I've not come across any reference to that profile being fixed with adhesive over here. I've only seen them used standing off the wall (so that insulation can be fitted) on adjustable nylon brackets - though the brackets can be fixed with with adhesive in new build, as per the 3rd of these images.
