flanagaj Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 I need to insure my personal tools and was wondering whether there is much to be had shopping around. I had a quote for 7k for £344. Just wondering whether anyone has any suggestions on how best to cover them. I don't leave tools in vehicles and they will be in a locked shipping container or my garage (when it's built). I wasn't sure whether home insurance will cover that amount and what to do whilst we are living on site in a static caravan. The site insurance only provides £1000 of tool cover.
nod Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 Look at the restrictions We used to have them for are vans Till they brought in all the restrictions 1
JohnMo Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 You would need all the receipts and make sure it's a new replacement policy. A company I worked for had a shipping container with tools in it, until one weekend the whole lot was emptied. Not a penny came back from the insurance. All sorts of exclusion clauses. 1
