newbridgewolf Posted October 2 Posted October 2 We are up to wall plate and having the Truss designed this week for an asysmetrical roof profile (see drawing attached). The architech has come up with a neat solution to allow for a flat ridge with what looks like a triangular section (Z) for support. The Truss designer hasn't included it, and the roof installer says its for the tiler/roofer to sort out. Can any one help unpick this? What is Z? Why isn't it provided for by the Truss supplier? Who has responsiblity for organising the timber for Z? Your wisdom would be very welcome, many thanks.
Bonner Posted October 3 Posted October 3 The tilers should sort out the ridge when they do the lathing but they might say it’s not needed. The ridge normally just sits on the tiles so I am not sure what the square section is for? 1
torre Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Looks like your architect has your counter battens fixed to the joists on the left and suspended in mid air on the right. Ask your architect what's filling the gap between the joist and roof membrane to the right of Z? And why the square section is needed at all? 1 1
