G and J Posted Thursday at 16:44 Posted Thursday at 16:44 I do solemnly swear I am a numpty. The evidence I justify this conclusion with is that I’m certain that the information I seek is already in the forums on here, but I’m buggered if I can find it. Sorry. At some unknown time in the future we will have sold our house and will therefore have the funds to carry on with our build. One of the first things will be the ground floor insulation/DPM/UFH/screed. The bit I’m currently trying to understand is the UFH. The plumbing will be Hep2O. The heating will be courtesy of an ASHP, single zone, WC based for both low flow temp (32 degrees maybe) heating and a modicum of cooling above dew point. Our ground floor is about 88m2. Our screed will be circa 100mm. The Wavin UFH stuff is different from the Hep2O stuff so I may as well make an independent decision re which UFH system to use. Gotta be neat and tidy, my OCD demands it so. Gotta work well, and in truth I don’t really know what that means, I’ve only ever installed high temp (gas or oil boiler) rad based heating systems. So which systems should I look at or are they all pretty similar?
JohnMo Posted Thursday at 17:05 Posted Thursday at 17:05 Plenty of systems out there most are pretty much the same with a different label. 16mm Pert-al-Pert pipes for every loop. Single zone Don't waste any money on any self balancing stuff - not needed. I use Ivar manifold - zero issues. Got everything from outsourced energy, put plenty of suppliers. You need pipe Manifolds, ideally get a manifold with auto bleed bottle on the top of the manifold not on the end, as this isn't at a high point. Manifold isolation valves. 16mm euro cones for each end of the loop pipe.
nod Posted Thursday at 18:17 Posted Thursday at 18:17 We’ve used warm up on the last two builds Without any issues
JohnMo Posted Thursday at 19:22 Posted Thursday at 19:22 https://www.outsourcedenergy.co.uk/shop/ 8 port manifold £160 16 euro cones £36 600m of pipe £560 Bits and bobs £60. Staples 500 £20 Shop about around £800-900 all in
Susie Posted Saturday at 18:13 Posted Saturday at 18:13 I have just had a good quote from Wunda. I made a list of what I would need and shopped around for prices buying the pipe and manifold etc rather than a package but found the lengths of pipe I needed just didn’t add up to easy lengths e.g lots of 120m runs and no 80m to add up to 200m or buy 300m but no 60m needed or 500m lengths. Wunda beat my price because they can just cut what I need and send 120m for example. They have also agreed to supply the manifold without the pump for now and we can buy that later.

Thorfun Posted Sunday at 07:26 Posted Sunday at 07:26 Another Wunda here. They designed it for me and then gave a great price on the parts which meant I didn’t have to hunt around and source from various places. Was one of my easier decisions on the build!

Wasn't sold on the design service either, cram floor full of loops, one spacing fits all rooms. So designed and sourced myself.

We are waiting to see what it’s like over winter. we are XPS ICF, 200mm insulation in floor and 200mm in roof, triple glazed and a basic rectangular shape so should be very good airtight. We will have heated towel radiators in both bathrooms and wood stove in open plan kitchen, lounge. Add to that were in Cornwall and haven’t had a frost last year or seen snow for a few years now. The back up plan is the Willis system, leaving space and planning this. I designed it on loopcad first then I told Wunda what I wanted.

Our design went through a number of iterations as I told them what I wanted but it wasn’t how they normally did it so it took some back and forth. Got there in the end though and saved me messing around in loopcad. I had many other things to focus my time on.
