mjc55 Posted August 7 Posted August 7 So a few months in to our build and I have to agree that self-build is hard work! It's also an amazing experience in which every day brings something new. It's difficult to say whether this is physically the hardest thing we have ever done because I think age plays its part, we are late 60's or so and even though we are both fit people building at this age cant be compared to the house renovations that we have done in our 30's, 40's and 50's. What I can say is that we wouldn't swap it for anything, we have promised ourselves that we would self-build for years and to be actually doing so is an amazing experience. Onwards & Upwards! 12
MikeSharp01 Posted August 7 Posted August 7 great - keep on keeping on, the challenges will keep coming but you will see the end eventually. 1
Benpointer Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Well done - it's hard enough trying to organise others - physically doing a lot your self must be a whole different ball-game and is mightily impressive. Keep up the good work! 1
BotusBuild Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Well done. We're in our 60's, although when I started I was in my late 50's!!! Nearing the end of the tunnel, and overall it is immensely satisfying. Hint: put out a Wow tin. Like a swear tin but for all those people who will come along and express hiw well you're doing. Minimum donation is £1. Paid for our 3G windows already 😀 1 1
Gone West Posted August 11 Posted August 11 That's great, sounds like you're doing well. We started our build when I was 59 and it took us 8 years. I was totally exhausted at the end!! 1
