Super_Paulie Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Installing my kitchen today, noticed a smell of "heat". Traced it to the dishwasher (7 yeah old) plug, which was red hot and pliable. Opened it up and the fuse holder was melted. So I cut the plug off, new one on, tried again. Red hot again. Opened up the socket, nothing to see, looked normal. Ran it again from a different socket, red hot again. Never noticed it before, do these just run hot, seems abnormal. Should I just bite the bullet and bin it off, wasn't expensive. Just took delivery today of all my Neff ovens, they were expensive 🤦🏻♂️
Mr Punter Posted August 3 Posted August 3 The dishwasher is faulty and a fire hazard if you don't fix it. 2
MikeGrahamT21 Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Call someone in to repair it? Sounds like something is drawing too much current, odds are on for the heating element, most dishwashers I think from memory have these as part of the pump, so you would be replacing the unit as a whole. doubt it’ll be the PCB but check capacitors for any swelling/leakage
Nickfromwales Posted August 3 Posted August 3 House fires are unpleasant, and that's if you're home to put it out.... Get rid, buy a better one. A molten plug will just allow a catastrophic failure to occur. I bought a used TD and put it in the upstairs play room, and then the smoke detectors started wailing a few days later. Smoke billowing out, but turned out just to be the cap frying. Flung it immediately and went out and bought a brand new bosch after sitting down and considering the consequences of losing everything we own. (expletive deleted) that!!!
Super_Paulie Posted August 3 Author Posted August 3 Sod it, everything else is new in here so what's another 500 notes. Cheers guys, unplugged and ready to go to dishy heaven. 2
