I have tried and tried, to find a company who will personally carry out a physical site survey to ascertain whether it's possible to get a static onto our site without a crane.  I know they'll be able to get it to the site, but the truck will definitely not be able to reverse in.  So the only option is for it to be potentially manoeuvred onto the site with a 4x4

When I ring and ask, they all say.  If you buy one from us, we'll only charge you if we can deliver it.  The trouble is, most trade statics are utter **** for the money compared to those sold privately.  The site in in Hampshire and I have no issues paying for an on site survey.  If anyone knows of a firm that will do this, without me having to buy one of their units, please can you get in touch.

Faced with a problem like this, I would make a rectangular timber frame with the same length and width as the intended caravan, gather a couple of mates to help and then pretent to be the 4x4.

You will quickly establish if it will be possible to move it into the desired spot; the activity is quick, cheap and you can be very confident that you have the correct answer.

Excellent idea, but I think I'd also put it on wheels to understand turning circles and pivots. If you just carry the timberframe, you may not account for the full range of movement of the static without being able to lift that too...

Mine came from a dealer "delivered"   Their definition of "delivered" was rolled down the ramps off their truck.

Good job I had my Landrover then.

Sounds like you might want "delivered and sited"

A front mounted tow ball would have made that a lot easier.

P.S they don't have brakes, so mine stayed hitched to the Landy until the axle was jacked up onto blocks and levelled, otherwise it might have just rolled down into the burn.
