Any experience with Sigenergy?

Hi folks 

 

After a longer than expected break from house renovations, finally getting back to it and restarting the solar /battery search. I got a quote for panels that came with a recommend for Sigenergy kit (inverter, battery and gateway). Looks like it's in givenergy AIO territory but more modularised. UK user feedback is light and wondered if anyone in here had any experience.

No but I am currently getting quotes for the same system. I like the look of it. Very flexible, highly modularised, some very good options for future proofing. They also have multiple battery sizes to allow you to size the system to more closely match your needs. The Tesla PW3 and GivEnergy AiO have the same problem in that one battery is too small and two is a bit more than I need. I’m getting quotes for:

This is largely down to what the local installers sell.

I see that Artisan Electrics are installing Sigeenergy equipmwnt currently - which is a good sign as Artisan generally install high-end. Their content is a bit light as they don’t fully explain why.

 

Am I right in thinking that with the rate of innovation and the inevitable industry consolidation that choosing a brand based on, say, their current app features is a bit fruitless?

 

Has anyone done the homework or have the experience to be able to differentiate well between the brands?

Artisan sell whatever they get the best deal to promote imo.

It’s all relatively new technology so companies will come and go and technology will develop at a rapid pace. Therefore there is a degree of risk buying any of it. Look at the Tesla Powerwall 2 for example which is a bit of a dead end and somewhat risky given its battery chemistry and not compatible with Powerwall 3.

What attracted me to SigEnergy Sigenstor is its modular so very easy to expand and you can mix and match batteries so it’s as future proofed as it can be. However the risk is that they are a relatively young company so could go pop or get acquired and everything changes. It’s run by ex Huawei execs who ran their renewables business. It’s also rapidly growing so are hopefully building a long term sustainable business.

So I took the plunge.

 

Our solar / sigenergy system went in today - 11.2 kW array (south facing and west facing roof) , 16 kWh battery and 10 kw inverter. Initial thoughts post install - nice compact and unobtrusive system which we've sited outside at the front of the house. Install took 2.5 days and would probably been faster had we not gone with company based 70 miles away. That said, they were by far the most knowledgeable, least saleslike and most pleasant installer by some way so I think we got that right. 

 

Out the box monitoring is very clear and clean. Control wise it's easy to configure out the box. Installer has set up for self consumption and until we have export agreed, we're good. 

 

Next steps are EV testing (hopefully we'll have one in 2 weeks), export integration (4 weeks approx) and testing out the AI controller vs manual config. I've got the modbus unlocked but I doubt I'll have any time to play with that any time soon. 

 

Will come back once we've had a few months bedding in with updates should anyone be interested.

Good stuff. We’ve had ours running for almost two weeks now. 8.45kWp array (East/West roof), 24kWh battery storage, and gateway for whole home backup. Also on self-consumption. Working really well and easy to configure. A few outstanding issues with the install but happy enough with it.

I would hope that any PV system works well this time of year.
