This is a question from my ‘that leak ‘ thread - but it’s a specific issue .

I want to cap / flash the end of this twice weathered caping stone .

Something malleable I guess ? . Want to completely cover it on the side and front edge . What’s best to use and how to apply it ?

Lead, but do you think it's porous? If that were a cill I would not be expecting to have to clad it. What is the specific issue? (Sorry, perhaps have not read the 'that leak' thread closely enough).

I *think* rainwater is getting in under / around it . Have cemented any gaps I can find but would prefer a ‘cap’ to fully cover it and force water to run off it completely.

As  possible alternative to lead you could possibly get a good alu fabricator to fold you a cover in self-coloured anodised alu. Lead needs a good lead-worker; Folded alu needs a good folder *and* good measurements to start.

😊 - good measurements 🫤🤔

I did look at this type of thing - not sure if it’s practical for what I want . To do a neat job with it might be tricky .

I hosed the other side of the coping but made sure some ran onto this side . It does seem to get across the drip channel . So I think I do need something covering this entire end and directing all water away .

Flashband or similar are good 'quick fixes'. They degrade fairly quickly, though TBF the last bit I used is still surviving in a 'second-hand' sort of way. The lead or alu could be 'permanent' (theft excluded!)

I could try 3d printing something . Modelling the shape though will be difficult ( for me ! ) .

But then it could be a continuous ‘cap’ ebt stuck down .

Can you get a grinder in and make the drip channel, wider, and deeper ?

I could do . Just assumed a ‘cap’ was better …

The cap won't do any harm, but i'm not surprised that the water is crossing that drip strip. It looks very shallow, and narrow in that photo.

Yeah - those copings were ‘ as supplied ‘ .
I might deepen and widen the drip channel and cap the end . Too scared to not implement everything

Water ingress is such a pain. You do seem to be getting there.

I did wonder if there was something available, like a very liquid Bitumen that you could have flooded in. something that would have found its way down, and through the crack, that would have then set, but remained elastic. You would have made a right mess with it though.

I have to say I agree: don't ruin it with the capping solution, get a grinder in and get that drip channel sorted !

It’s at the end of the run and about 7ft up on a long skinny lane . So I’ll never see it . Just wanted a proper solution .

Technically water could run over the side I.e bypass any drip channel , yeah ?
