Hi

Do I have to drain the system to replace a valve on the tail or is there a workaround?

Plumber asking for £120....is that reasonable?

That's what I thought the only other option was!!

I'll think about it

Thanks for the vid

Are all your rads on pipework above the skirting?

Only thinking back to your balancing issues it should be relatively easy to draw up a flow and return schematic?

@marshianWe@marshian

Surface mounted pipes on ground floor. Pipes under floors on floor.

I'm fairly confident I have the correct route by which everything heats up. Just have no idea why the two rads decided to stop working after months of trouble free heating.

Anyway, both rads are heating up again!

Your plumbing skills may have advanced at the expense of your keyboard skills.

Don't worry about the bug @Dee @Dee I only get one notification no matter how many times you tag me

Now what did the lock shield valve look like internally - was the seat distorted or the actuator detached because I don't think the leak you wanted to fix was the issue with the rads heating..................

Old gold, and exactly how we used to do it. Lost count of how many outside taps and stopcocks I did the same way, but got a LOT wetter when it was mains pressure lol. Great vid.

I believe it's called "old skool" but yes it works and you do have to be a bit quick and accurate - I'm not brave enough to do a stopcock this way but I did do an outside tap once because the street shut off valve was 15 inches deep in dirty smelly water 🙂

I'll save @SteamyTea the job of posting this 😉

There was barely enough water to paddle never mind swim 😀....would never attempt it in a carpeted room though! And I was much much faster than Gene Wilder!!
