Andehh
Hot water making plastic pipes expand slightly and then contracting afterwards.... Potentially running against joists! Same as black guttering through the summer. Not sure there is a solution I'm afraid. Only way to solve is lifting up flooring and insulating the pipes from anything they might be touching. I remembering it very unfondly from my first house and the new central heating pipes every morning waking me up!!!! One to learn to live with! marshian
If the house is 70’s or 80’s my money says It’ll be expansion and contraction on a HW pipe cut into a joist and pinned with a nail folded round it.
joe90
Yes sounds like plastic expanding ( Like guttering tends to do)
SteamyTea
We have some shipping containers that we use for storage. Popped outside with a mug of tea for a quick break at about 7AM this morning. It was very cold. There was a very loud bang. I can only assume it was some thermal expansion/contraction from the shipping container. Being a brave and reckless idiot, I went to investigate. Then realised it might be an intruder and I was alone on site. So went back inside the main building and locked the door. 1
