Alwayslearning22 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I’ve this really annoying clicking noise after running hot water through my upstairs bathroom sink. Also happens when I run water through the bath. any advice on finding the problem area and solving this really annoying noise
Andehh Posted January 3 Posted January 3 (edited) Hot water making plastic pipes expand slightly and then contracting afterwards.... Potentially running against joists! Same as black guttering through the summer. Not sure there is a solution I'm afraid. Only way to solve is lifting up flooring and insulating the pipes from anything they might be touching. I remembering it very unfondly from my first house and the new central heating pipes every morning waking me up!!!! One to learn to live with! Edited January 3 by Andehh
marshian Posted January 3 Posted January 3 If the house is 70’s or 80’s my money says It’ll be expansion and contraction on a HW pipe cut into a joist and pinned with a nail folded round it.
joe90 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Yes sounds like plastic expanding ( Like guttering tends to do)
SteamyTea Posted January 3 Posted January 3 We have some shipping containers that we use for storage. Popped outside with a mug of tea for a quick break at about 7AM this morning. It was very cold. There was a very loud bang. I can only assume it was some thermal expansion/contraction from the shipping container. Being a brave and reckless idiot, I went to investigate. Then realised it might be an intruder and I was alone on site. So went back inside the main building and locked the door. 1 1
