Willg
Stupidly didn’t do the proper research and told my builder to set out my skylight opening at 2.3 m by 1.3 m, standard size is 2.5 m by 1.5 m for the internal opening, Can I get away with this? Or get my carpenter back to alter the internals? The difference in price between the two sizes with the size I have being custom is over £700 so not really worth it. As the carpenter assumed I was having a lantern there is no fall currently so I have some furring strips to add and then need to osb and get the flat roofer back to finish off sealing the roof anyway, any advice on this would be appreciated. It appears that most suppliers offer an internal frame for the fitter to fix too I didn’t know if this would change anything.

ETC
Speak to the manufacturer or supplier.
ETC
Ask your joiner how much he would charge for the alteration. If it’s less than £700 do it. If not go for the different size to suit your opening. 1
SteamyTea
Ask @Pocster, he knows how to sort out roof lights. He has a special tape measure, and maybe some glazing.

It’s a long torturous tale of woe . Less than 700 then alter it .
Willg Posted Sunday at 13:19 Author Share Posted Sunday at 13:19 Nightmare! With it all being set would it make sense to pack out the internal to the next set size? I.e make it 2 by 1 m?

I.e make it 2 by 1 m? Possibly I guess . Get costings for all options . Assume the ‘less light’ if smaller not a major issue ? Willg Posted Sunday at 13:24 Author Share Posted Sunday at 13:24 Okay thanks - no not really it will still be a decent opening and a cheaper skylight so win win 🥇I guess?
