Preparing a steel in block wall for plasterboarding over

Recommended Posts

I filled in with slim PIR, then hammered in timber wedges just proud along the length. Then filled in-between with thicker PIR, foamed and screwed the board on. Insulated board underneath attached with Sika EBT. Seems to work!

Airtight paint. I love to see it!!

Use something capable of taking a screw. Our builder just put in plaster board and it struggles with curtain rails.

Haha, you want to see the mess I’ve made with the parge coat.

Wont the screws be a cold bridge though, if they are through the beam?

Miniscule in the scheme of things I'd have thought, but I kept away from going through the beam just incase. I didn't have access to the outside face as it had already been bricked in order to insulate from that side.

Possibly, The steel is on the warm side of the cavity insulation and if the screws are an issue then I think the steel flanges top and bottom are probably more of an issue...  I think I can live with it.
