machtucker
Hi, I'm about to come to the part in the landscaping build where I will have lots of MOT Type 1 subbase to shift and rake into position. My previous garden rake broke so looking for something up to the job. Is there something with a normal rake on one side and builders rake on the other? Cheers
twice round the block
All steel tarmac rake, but you may need extra bracing welded from the head to the handle. Raking type one is no easy job
Conor
God, those steel rakes are heavy and raking that stuff is tough. Hire a digger 🤪
Roundtuit
+1 for steel tarmac rake; they're built to last. Shovel the type 1 as much as possible or you end up raking the big stuff out and leaving the fines that bind it behind.
machtucker
Yes I realised that raking MOT type 1 doesn’t work the first time I did it. In the end I made some wooden fencing for my garden rake which did the trick. I will shovel/barrow most of it. Can you get a rake with a flat plate head? No prongs? Roundtuit
Turn your tarmac rake over and use the back maybe?
Onoff
About 30 degrees...
