I'm from west yorks, and hoping to convert a barn on my farm using permitted development, it's single story 60x17, think it's going to be self build timber framed and clad in box profile sheets. I've loads to learn about building spec etc need to find a architect that I can afford lol

Welcome, and good luck with the barn. Have you got PD approved yet?

My conversion is just underway of a steel portal framed cow-shed to dwellinghouse. Planning via Class Q PD.

Hi and welcome.

Get your PD sorted and then you can settle in here. Best to ask questions about what's happening, as opposed to what 'may' be happening ;)

Either way, welcome aboard :)

no keep putting it off lol some people say it will get past no problem others say I'm in for a long drag

Decision has to be within 56 days, so there can't be a "long drag". Just make sure you understand all the caveats to the PD and ensure you present your barn correctly. I've seen a barn get refused just because it had been used to store logs for the house log burner and was therefore not solely used for Agriculture.

The barn was used for hay and straw storage, it's still on a working farm, at the minute it as a static we use for lambing

Consider using an architectural technician, they can be cheaper than architects. And of course some people (like me) don't use an architect at all!
