Static caravans good, bad dont touch ?

Recommended Posts

Its looking like we may go down the static caravan route, Affordable renting of a house near us is sketchy.

What brands of caravan to stay away from or recommend. Why choose x over y brand? Does anyone have any insight

Presume you're going for second hand, in which case they'll likely be 10+yrs old by then and if they've lasted that long they'll last another few years for your build. Ours was a 20yrs old "Atlas Moonstone" but has been well maintained and had new carpets and DG windows etc in when we got it. I did a few mods that has made it more comfortable though, log burner, thermostatic shower mixer etc

Not much point asking for a particular recommendation.  Look at the market where you are and choose the best you can.  We actually chose ours not because it was good, but because the internal layout was unusual and suited the plot and it's continued use after the house was complete.

All the ones available here are ex holiday static caravans, if you have the choice and ex residential park home might be better, but they tend to stay on site longer and get repaired and upgraded and continue in use, compared to holiday statics that often have to be removed from the holiday site when X years old.

We have just bought on a site 10 minutes from our build. So we are lucky as it is mains everything. It's an ABI, and has been well looked after. Just two problems to fix which we will do when we move permanently next month.
