Graeme M88 Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Hi everyone. I’m new here and joined as it looks a great community. Dug out grass and soil to extend a small patio. Garden is on a decline from the house and I’m not sure if I should raise the base 4 inches or keep lower and build a retaining wall. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
markc Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Good morning and welcome, I would be raising it slightly above the lawn, stops turf migrating onto the patio area and helps drainage 1
ProDave Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 For that small height change, I would not build a retaining wall, but cut the turf back a bit a re profile it so it slopes down to the slabs without a step. 1
Graeme M88 Posted June 1, 2024 Author Posted June 1, 2024 Thanks very much for those ideas! Do you think sleepers would be an idea to support the turf? I was recommended to do this but I think it’s maybe too much for the size
