Hi currently digging footings for a small 4x4m single story flat roof extension and have found a private drain about 600mm deep and footings are going to be at 1000mm deep is the drain okay to run through the footing and if so is it okay just to sleeve it or will it need to be relocated. Thanks guys any info really appreciated

No. Your options would be to reduce the depth of the extension, increase the depth of the extension or provide new foundations beyond the sewer and lintel over.

We had a similar situation at our last house Building control insisted that we cut the drain off and put two inspection chambers in and run the new drain parallel to the footings

Id give BC a call and get him or her out

is it shared with anyone else ? Guessing it is otherwise you could simply move it.

In which case its more than likely adopted and you will need build over permission.

What do you mean by private drain? Do you know where it starts and what it's connected to? If it's a shared surface water drain, then it's public, and usual policies of the owner will apply. Usually a draconian 3-4m buffer.
