steveoelliott Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 Hi, Previously we had a leak from a flat roof which was resolved ~3 years ago. It was treated with a stain block followed by a couple of coats of matt emulsion. Today I noticed that there are some brown marks / ring in the same location as previously. The ceiling area isn't damp and interestingly the ring isn't complete and looks faint which makes me wonder if this is the old stain bleeding through the block. Of course this could be the old leak returned but if it were new, would it penetrate the block or make it flake off? Thanks in advance...
steveoelliott Posted April 29, 2024 Author Posted April 29, 2024 Thanks but it's more a question about whether it is common for these stains to bleed through stain block after years have passed.
twice round the block Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 Depends what stain blocker was used in the first place. I use Zinser Bullseye 3-2-1 apply with a foam rad roller, apply 100mm beyond current stain. 3 coats should see it off forever. 1

steveoelliott Posted May 7, 2024 Author Posted May 7, 2024 Thanks Folks. I will keep an eye to see if it gets wet again i.e. is the leak still present and when I touch up use the Zinsser product referenced.
