Elvis60
Hi I want to install 12 panels on a detached house. Options for inverter and lipo4 battery are outside back door in a large porch which is protected from the rain or alternatively in a detached garage. Advantage of garage is that there would be space to add extra batteries later on. However getting mixed messages about whether can have overhead cabling from Solar in the house to the garage above the back gate or if I must dig a trench to cover all cables from the house and back again. The garage is within a few meters of the house. Could I ask if trench definitely required? Thank you
Dillsue
Overhead cables are used the world over so no reason you can't use them, if they are supported properly. Our supply is overhead for miles.
JohnMo
I don't believe armoured cable needs to be trenched anymore, so could run a ove ground
markc
Can be overhead or even just above floor is fixed to a fence or wall. Only needs to be buried if likely to be damaged by pedestrian or vehicular traffic.

I think so too, but they could also be any UV stable cable tie wrapped to a length of fencing wire. Or run inside some 20mm conduit tie wrapped to the wire. Lots of different options
