Hi i want to do some work in my home, its plumbed in Mlcp.

I want to use compression fittings.  Im looking into purchasing some adaptors so i can use standard compression fittings.

my question is can i use any brand adaptors or does it have to be from the makers of the pipe?

I heard that some of the pipes can be different sizes even though there 16mm?

thanks

Hi @Alwayslearning22

I assume the building has the "Press system fittings.

You are right, pipes can have different inside diameters even with the same outside diameters. Some pipes require inserts for compression fittings

I see they do Mlcp to compression fittings, however I have not seen compression fittings straight on to the Mlcp pipe. I also notice that on a "press" fitting there is an outside and internal sleeve, so the compression squeezes the outer sleeve towards the inner clamping the pipe, so I would expect a straight compression would not work.

That being said I would give them a call to confirm.

Good luck

P.S. I had never heard of the abbreviation mlcp before and had to look it up, or Instantor although I have seen that type being used many times.

yes my house has press fittings but also they have used compression.

I'm in Ireland, I think its an Irish company probably not very popular.

They sell an adaptor/insert that can be used on standard compression fittings. looks to be very handy especially for the DIY type like me.
