have a couple of these on our build, example below above the pitched roof. Wonder if we should use another course of marmox just inside the pitched element to thermal break it. Cant run them the whole length as they would be visible so there will stiill be an element of sideways leeching. Losses too small to worry about ? How would they be calculated ?

I have used Marmox where we have a single storey element abutting 3 storey, so they are on the steel beam.  I think they are better at stopping side-to-side cold bridges than up /  down, as they have the concrete type vertical cylinders, but better than nothing.

Probably should be a cavity tray an weep vents just above where the roof joins the wall.

Not just above lintels. Anywhere where the exterior leaf becomes an inner leaf.

so after talking to marmox they advise running a course just under where the ledger plate sits.

 

There is also a stepped gable on another elevation with same issue. They recommend stepping the blocks up the gable following the trays as you go.
