Wasnt local but got someone with decent reviews in who could do quickly. Told was degraded bitumen and needed rubber membrane repair, taking up and underlaying adjacent pitched tiles. Hefty price but she really wanted it doing quickly as torrential rain. Photos attached - issue is already looks like whole thing isnt glued properly - there looks to me like some lift on the right (although glued at edge cant get my fingers under it). Got bad feeling about the whole thing, charged her over 2k, looks sloppy, no trim (is that normal?) but i know nothing about roofing so any advice much appreciated to check she hasnt been taken advantage of. Conor Posted August 28, 2023 Share Posted August 28, 2023 Lazy work (tho it looks better and they went under the tiles and lead valley), they didn't even take the gutters off. Jake1 Posted August 28, 2023 Author Share Posted August 28, 2023 Thanks so much for replies. Attached a couple more photos. He said he removed the degraded bitumen and glued down. Its def glued down. I also found a roller presume was used for tge glue left resting against the wall on the street - another sloppy sign of concern but anyway. Underlay pictured. Its not glued right upto the edge which is making the right side pocket up a little bit. The gutter is pretty flush with the roof so perhaps thats why they couldnt fit a trim? Guessing here! It is run under the edge of the lead channel. Definitely doesnt look accurately cut because its almost overhanging guttering on left, although just enough to still run into guttering. As I say, i can handle a sloppy job if its safe especially as completed very quickly but at the price she paid id expect a pretty top job so I definitely think its worth asking them to rectify the finish but as I say really appreciate your expert opinion as dont have any idea what is and isnt a reasonable expectation.
