Post and beam
Having read with interest the recent post on here about ground mount i decided to read up a little on the options. Can anyone clear up my confusion over the max size please. Variously i have read 9 metres squared and 9 square metres.
JohnMo
Max size in what respect? Can be as big as want, doesn't mean it complies with any planning rules.
Post and beam
To be regarded as PD i believe. From that i guess the question is what if you want to exceed the PD max size. Will it entail a planning request?
SteamyTea
9 m² https://www.planningportal.co.uk/permission/common-projects/solar-panels/planning-permission-stand-alone-solar-equipment-panels-not-on-a-building-but-within-the-grounds-of-a-house-or-a-block-of-flats
jayc89
Max area is 3m x 3m (I don't think you could get away with 4.5m x 2m to reach 9m2, for example). Must be at least 5m away from any boundary. Max height of 4m. Would make for a decent shed too.
bellski
Hi Guys Hope you don't mind me jumping in on this, but we are considering installing a 17-panel ground system on a boundary fence, short end to end as we have the space and its low profile, long thin strip of solar panels. We are surrounded on all 4 sides by farmers' fields. Do we still need to keep to the 5m rule?
