Hi Guys,

Have been told that it's far cheaper to source this ourselves rather than purchase from UK Power Networks.

Any recommendations?

Hi, I'm having this issue too. Northern Power Networks when asked, have given me a kiosk detail showing a brick built one. The internal size is 1000m w x 1050mm h x 560mm deep. The ready made kiosks of course are nowhere near that actual size and so Glasdon for instance is suggesting their 1200mm wide x 1500mm h x 600 deep version. That's a) enormous to have in front of the house and b) expensive. I may have to build one, but would prefer a neater modular unit, but not big enough to rent out!

I think UKPN have a spec somewhere, concrete base etc - ask them. But this kind of thing:

not necessarily that size though. One option is to keep the meter in there for ever.

I have exactly this one. Loads of space inside it and sized for 3 phase. Mine is a temp supply but will be our perm supply. Loads of threads on here.

I'm trying to get Northern to confirm if I can adapt their "in-situ build" dimensions a bit so as to use a pre-formed kiosk. Don't know why they simply do not choose a standard size and offer either their own version or suggested manufacturers, perhaps with a nice logo!

It is certainly worth buying a commercial one, rather than making your own and trying to keep the water out. Usually cheapest by shopping around rather than from the electric company.
