Moonshine Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 We have decided to go for white architrave and skirting and hope to end up with something like this look There seems to be two options for door linings solid wood or MDF, and consensus of what would be better?
Andehh Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Watching with interest, we are probably going with white as per your picture... But not totally sure.
markc Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 MDF or solid wood is often a dilemma. In area that will be mopped or likely to be damp/wet then solid wood (MDF can and is used but it needs fully sealing on all sides before install). In non wet areas then MDF is fine, no one goes around tapping skirts and arch’s like they do doors and furniture. 1

Dave Jones Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 soft wood linings are hit and miss quality wise. MDF liners are bang on and you can use wide slam strips instead of the narrow ones for a more professional look.
