Huckleberrys
Hello. I am about to install a 7.3kw east/west array. There will be an equal number of 8 panels on each side of a shed roof approx 15degree pitch. I am using a solid 6kw hybrid inverter. My question is about the wiring...Best to connect each side up in series but then connect both sides in parallel? There is no overhead shading. Thanks. SteamyTea
Check the inverter manual for minimum voltage per string. If it is a single string inverter (doubt it is) then it is the wrong sort for a split system.
Marvin
Make and model of inverter would help
Huckleberrys
It's a solis hybrid 6kw 5G inverter SOL-6K-RHI-48ES-5G-DC. 600vDC max per string...I can't see how many strings it can support although two connections on the base of the unit (2x DC positive and negative) for panel connections so I'd say 2 strings Edited February 9, 2023 by Huckleberrys
SteamyTea
39 minutes ago, Huckleberrys said: SOL-6K-RHI-48ES-5G-DC Start up voltage is 120V. So make sure your modules, when in series, can supply at least that. And make sure they do not supply more than 11A per string.
JamesPa
SOL-6K-RHI-48ES-5G-DC: MPPT: 2 according to here: https://www.zerohomebills.com/product/solis-rhi-6k-48es-5g-6kw-hybrid-solar-inverter/ MPPT 2 = 2 strings. Put east facing panels on one string and west on the other Edited February 9, 2023 by JamesPa
Huckleberrys
So wire each side in series and have each side as a string. Ideal. Thanks
