KayleyH
Hello, not sure if this is the right place to ask … we are hoping to have a hob on our kitchen island in our new extension but need some advice regarding hob extractor fan or recirculator. Do building regs have a say in what we can / can’t have and where is the best place to get some advice? Many thanks for any pointers.
ProDave
Unless you are having full MVHR, building regs stipulate you must have an extractor fan in a kitchen, and there are different extraction rates for extraction via a cooker hood to extraction elsewhere.
saveasteading
Yes it is laid out in the regs. We have been looking at cooker extractors. The extraction volume is much more than the recirculation for the same machine. Is your priority to get rid of the smell and oils, or to avoid discarding the warm air when cooking? Our view is that it uis there to catch and dispose of the fumes.. and anything else is secondary.
KayleyH
I think we just want something that will comply with build regs … our building reg details say as below

I.e. mvhr or individual room extracts plus trickle vents.
