Rcd tripping regularly

Good point. I might put a drip hole at the bottom of the conduits.

I have white  flexi conduit. Is that not suitable?

It's fine I'm sure other than standing out like a sore thumb and getting grubby! Is it UV rated? Could always get a camo sleeve! 😂

White pvc conduit will possibly degrade over time when exposed to UV light. Best to use black.

Doesn’t surprise me the mess the gate installers left. Seen it on nearly every job I’ve been on with electric gates. They’re even worse than kitchen fitters imo!

What I found a few weeks ago is typical.

  • 2 weeks later...

Update. I have fitted a new box, with 3 pop-outs in the bottom so there are no openings on the top or sides.

It is a huge thing, but that made wiring easier. (it is still very tight for SWA though)

I haven't connected the light again, on the one thing at a time principle. That, when I do it, will go in flexi pipe to the underside.

It is now clear that the gate was the problem.

To be entirely sure, we have switched off the internal light switch that controls it, and in 2 weeks had one power cut, but I see local media comments about issues nearby with power lines through trees causing cuts over a few weeks.

So perhaps the issue is resolved, or perhaps it was a new problem, as the system often trips when we are away and not using the gate...... Ahhh but it is an open circuit to the box, and water was shorting it?

Anyway, the freezer contents are being used in a 'can cook, will cook' challenge before the next holiday, just in case.

Thanks for the advice.
