Triassic
We have a 120m long gravel access track, which keeps being badly affected by sudden heavy rain falls, washing the gravel down the slope. We live in an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB) and the track is in an area covered by a Limestone Pavement Order. We’ve been advised that the best long term option is to tarmac the track. Question is - do you think we will need planning permission?
markc
I doubt you will need PP but if it’s not done right it will not last long. If water can get under the tarmac it will soon break up and come away in sheets/chunks
Radian
IME, even with the recommended buildup tarmac without edging (curb retainers) will only last 10 years or so before cracking and moving. Have you thought about using gravel mats for retention?

Have you thought about using gravel mats for retention? Totally agree, have a look at these products - https://www.groundtrax.com/. It's probably worth giving them a call to discuss your problem.
