MVHR drain - trap required?

Just getting the fittings to put the 32mm pipework onto the drain from the bottom of the MHVR. The drain goes directly into a soul pipe. 

 

Do I need some form of trap to stop any smells getting up into the unit? If so what type please.

A dry trap is generally recommended as there will be times when condensation is low/non-existent and there's a risk that the seal in a wet trap might evaporate leading to drainage smells being admitted to the unit.

To be clear(er), by dry trap I mean something like a Hepworth Hepvo or McAlpine Macvalve etc.

 That looks suspiciously similar to the Hepvo - I wonder if it's produced on licence?
