IanP Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 Any Scottish builders out there who have recently had a meter fitted? I have just spent several thousand getting Ssen to put a supply in to a shed for a temp supply but when I rang up Scottish Power for a meter, they said as from Apr 13th Scottish Power don't install temporary meters!!! Only permanent ones as they will not move it to the house when built! Any recommendation for a supplier who will?
ProDave Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 Tackle the problem a different way. Make your current "temporary" supply permanent. Leave it there in a box on the boundary. When the house is built, connect your own cable from there to the house. Several of us here have done that. Otherwise try Octopus. I would recommend them as a supplier anyway. Oh and PM me if you want a referall code to get £50 credit if they will take you on.
JohnMo Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 My permanent one went in when no building was even there. Just put in an external box on a post where it would be in the house. Altered the post and the box as the build progressed.

We had a meter fitted within 10days of contacting them that was back in August.
Kelvin Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 (edited) I’ve just been through this. SSEN for the cable install and Octopus for the meter. Be aware that it’s taken 4 months for Octopus to install the meter. They also completely screwed up my ‘new connection’ taking a month to get it registered and energised so much so that I ended up getting £150 in credit from them. As above I’ve made my temporary connection permanent. As an aside I found SSEN great to deal with. I even got a refund of £560 from them. Total cost for SSEN was £456. The original quote was £26,500 😂 Pic pre meter install. Edited October 4, 2022 by Kelvin
