Col2021
Been getting tenders in for our build. They all say savings could be made by swapping from zinc to slate. What could the saving actually be? Has anyone compared the 2? Obviously we will be asking the builders this week but forearmed and all that! markc
Savings can always be made but what are you wanting the roof to look like? And what about future maintenance etc. also depends on roof design, shape and angle etc.
Miek
Its an aesthetic choice. Slates can cost between £20/m for artificial ones and £150/m for new premium Welsh ones, most go for Spanish/Brazilian at around £40/m, but that's just the covering.
JohnMo
Wouldn't you need to back through planning as the change would make a big change to the look of the building?
JohnMo
It may also change the design of the trusses due to the weight
Ralph
As a comprise you could look at standing seam steel, cheaper than Zinc and will look similar.
