cwr Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 Hi all I need to make a ceiling height 'cupboard' for UVC, expansion tanks, pump, valves etc. The other side will be utility worktop. Plan to use a sheet of MDF, but undecided on the spec. It wil be supported at ground and ceiling level and up to 900mm high by the the units that adjoin to it. Trying to decide between 18 and 25mm thick, and if moisture resistant is worthwhile, or something more exotic like external grade or Medite Tricoya Extreme? Any thoughts or recommendations folks? Thanks
markc Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 18mm is more than enough and moisture resistant for peace of mind. Also in case of leaks, seal all the edges with paint or varnish etc prior to fitting (paint the sides after).
PeterW Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 Also worth looking at some of the 2 pack fillers from Ronseal and the like - a quick smear over any cut surface then sanding leaves it square and clean for paint and also stops water ingress 1
cwr Posted September 3, 2022 Author Posted September 3, 2022 Thanks for the replies guys. Good tips for sealing the edges.
TonyT Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Moisture resistant I feel is a cleaner cut edge less prep for finishing the edge if it’s face is showing
