Pocster
Got to box in some external pipework . Planned to make a timber frame and then fix tile backer board to it ( I have plenty spare ) . I assume backer board externally if not exposed to the elements is ok ?
Onoff
Just make sure it says for exterior use. Don't forget anything outside will be rated for frost proof etc whereas stuff in a bathroom wouldn't need to be. For example: https://www.knauf.co.uk/store/aquapanel-cement-board-outdoor/c-23/p-555

No idea of spec - but if sold for bathrooms assume not rated for frost proof . Best not use ? . It’s outside but below ground ; so frost much less of an issue . Or just use some osb ? Pocster
This looks like it says temperature range from well below zero . Reckon I’ll be ok with it .
Onoff
Says it's used for "exterior cladding" so all good imo:

The backer will be ok But you will need to PU glue ALL edges and trim back the following day
