Norfolk Self-Builders - Groundworks recommendations?

Recommended Posts

Have you tried working from the other end and asking the folk that are doing the superstructure who they recommend and like to work with.

By "like to work with" I mean things like how what do the piling folk leave behind in terms of setting out, finish etc.. are they on the end of the phone and so on if there is a query.

Have confidence in yourself. Yes it's not a box but you can set stuff like this out ok with the right approach. Ring beams / piles are generally designed assuming the top of the piles are up to 75mm off the intended line.

Great interesting ground in Norfolk by the way.. you are lucky.

Keep us posted.

We are doing an ICF build in Suffolk.

We used APEC groundworks based in Diss.

They did a good job with the excavation, drainage, sewage treatment, utilities, over site work, etc. We had an insulated raft specialist assemble the Kore EPS foundations. But APEC were happy to do the raft if we wanted.

Do you also need a surveyor recommendation for setting out?

Interestingly, I did contact Apec last year, but had forgotten until you mentioned their name. The work I was after was much more complicated back then, it's a fairly straight-forward foundation job now.

Turns out a friend who is experienced has offered to help. It seems too good to be true and I'll believe it when I see it, but the plan is to dig over the weekend of the 20th/21st and pour the following week. Watch this space! Thanks for the input.
