Mikey_1980
So having remembered Nick's advice for Leyland super laytex for newly plastered walls when the old site went down, does anyone have any recommendations for a roller, I have been using a hardy professional but today in the 10th tub of super leytex switched to a purdy colusus which gives a lot faster coverage but does anyone have any other recommendations for rollers, as I have about 1000 m2 of walls and ceilings to paint. Ferdinand
My number one recommendation for quick painting is a Pole Sander - one of these: http://www.screwfix.com/p/pole-sander-260-x-85mm-85-x-260mm/33586?_requestid=288807 Sanding head on a UJ on a long handle - lets you sand from the hip not the elbow and push a lot harder if you need. Many times quicker than hand sanding. For painting I use the Wickes professional range, which did about 400sqm of walls / ceilings in the last house I did with 2 or 3 coats, and Leyland Trade paints. The cost of paint and time probably means that the cost of tools is immaterial, so perhaps have several systems. Painting a loo with a .5m roller would be interesting. Nickfromwales
I use Harris stuff where it matters. For obliteration with the Leyland stuff it really doesn't matter as that paint shouldn't be your final finish e.g. you should be sanding that back prior to applying 2 coats of a quality durable paint. The Leyland is most definitely NOT a durable paint btw, it's just a high opacity filler for obliterating new plaster to white / mag. It's on the final coats that you want to spend out on a decent roller unless it's just the size you're worried about for speedier coverage? In which case stick with a cheaper roller and just move your arms faster
