All depends on what you mean by flat, they are reasonably square and true, but after you stack them 10 high and fill with concrete the surface has many lumpy bumpy sticky out bits, definitely not flat enough to screw boards to.

ok thanks Russell I'll dot and dab then

Which option you going to go with

Going to go 5/6mm parge and the dot and dab. I have saved the photo showing the dabs and will be showing that my plasterers. I like the idea of wet plaster but I am struggling to people who do it without charging a ridiculous amount. So I think that option is the best for me at the minute. Build not starting till June/July so got plenty of time to change my mind yet

Yeah belt and braces, I’ll do the same, difference is I’ll do mine myself so won’t have to pay a plasterer 😀

@Nickfromwales @nod

thanks for the tips guys, but in your opinions what is the best option for DIY on woodcrete (Isotex) blocks

Sorry to contradict

I wouldn’t Parge for airtightness

I would seal the dot and dab correctly

or wet plaster

Parge coating the walls is like giving up on sealing the walls and celings

I use hundred of bags of Parge each year Mainly for soundproofing

It’s a waste of time and money for airtightness

One where they did = 0.88 ACH

One where they didn’t  = 3.02 ACH

The internal face of the entirety of the house interior is your AT junction.

Each to their own tbh, as results are results, and if you get the result then the method you chose is the one to be happy with.

Parge for DIY or when using plasterers for the first time, even more so when it’s their first time on an AT project. Much easier to explain and execute afaic, plus you can check / polish off any areas of doubt before the boards go on.

100% dot and dab with woodcrete ICF.
