Adsibob
I am fitting a door handle to a door which comes with a 60mm "strong latch". This means that once the latch will be fitted, the centre of the threaded mortice spindle bar on which the handle is mounted is 60mm from the edge of the door. I would like a mortice lock which once fitted will have a keyhole that is in line with the spindle bar. What size mortice lock do i need?
Temp
If I've understood correctly you want one with a 60mm backset (backset is measured from edge of door to centre of keyhole/spindle). Dimension "B"... https://www.locksonline.co.uk/community/how-to-measure-door-locks-the-complete-guide.html
Adsibob
Very helpful this @Temp thank you. The trouble is I'm now trying to find a simple 2 lever mortice lock with a 60mm backset. Even upgrading to 3 lever doesn't open up many more choices.
Temp
So you're trying to use seperate latch and lock on same door? Can you switch the handle onto a combined unit? Edited February 24, 2022 by Temp
PeterW
@Adsibob why are the numbers of levers relevant to you ..??

Yeah, that’s probably going to be easier, just annoying because I spent a bit of money on Corston to get everything matching everything, to the extent that my latch plates match my sockets and switches and handles. But I’m a bit OCD like that.

PeterW
So a standard 3 lever will be fine but your issue is 60mm is the euro standard that’s why you will struggle. If you go with 57mm then you have lots more options and you should be able to work with the 3mm difference

Adsibob
I also need a fireproof sash latch with a rather large backset of at least 90mm, but preferably closer to 100mm. Any ideas? The largest I can find is this one, but the biggest backset it comes in is 82mm: https://www.locksonline.co.uk/Locks/Mortice-Locks-/Fire-Rated-Mortice-Locks-For-Fire-Doors/Imperial-G5000-5-Lever-Mortice-Sashlock.html
