James94
Couple of pics to show my issue, I have a hallway that is going to be open each end ( no doors). one end is narrower than the other and I don’t think it looks right. Do you think I’d have any issues if I prop up joists and add bigger lintel and cut blocks flush with other side? Regards. James
ProDave
So you are not actually widening the "hallway" you just want to widen the door opening at the end, that is not going to have a door fitted, to be the same width as the rest of the hall? James94
Yeah, sorry if I worded it incorrectly, like you say just the opening so it’s the same width, just think it will look better. Regards. James
saveasteading
Check the building regs re stability of walls, as the returns may be stabilising the walls. If that seems ok then still check with your dedigner.
James94
Thanks, I’ll check and if there are any issues I’ll not bother. I never really thought about it until looking at-some low level lighting for the hallways and just thought it would look better. Regards.
