Looking to pour our garage slab and this is what we’ve been left with. What Is the usual method to bridge this gap?

A lot depends what will be going outside. You would normally pour the slab and then work the outside to match the slab.

I am guessing it will be a decent slab to take some load away from the centre of the first beam

Outside will be some sort of loose stone for driveway so not sure if this will determine how best to bridge the gap. The slab will be about 4" thick i'm not sure if this will require anything to strengthen concrete or not.

See attached - taken from a very basic set of Building Regs drawings we produce. I've just added a red line to indicate a DPC under the Beam and Block.

These drawings are usually seen at 1:50, not 1:5!!!!

So you're nearly there. Youre ready for DPC, coursing block and then final infill floor block. Another block to bring it level on the outside and then a concrete topper.

I would always add the floor/channel drain but you may be OK with some good falls.

@JohnMo will you be tackling this task yourself, will you be putting any rebar in to strengthen slab or is this not necessary?

James

We used fibre reinforced concrete
