Mr Punter
I need 8 temporary front doors for openings 1040w x 2250h. Any suggestions as to the cheapest and simplest solution? This is to secure buildings as posh front doors will not go in until later.
Crofter
Are the openings just roughed out in the frame? I would just knock up some panels from OSB and 2x4. Go for 18mm and it'll be sturdy as anything. Make seven of them lockable from inside and that leaves only one that needs a good hasp/staple on it, and a big padlock. The openings are into brickwork and each one to a separate house. I want the doors to be easy to open, close, lock and unlock. Would prefer them keyed alike. Onoff
I wonder if any insurance would pay out if a house got broken into via an "ad hoc" front door? I know they're fussy about things like "approved 5 lever mortice locks".
RichS
Ply flush internal fire doors are fairly solid and not too expensive. Have a word with your local locksmith for keyed alike locks. Cobble frames out of 50 x 100. Job sorted.
