Corroded mains power cable

Not the easiest to see from this picture but the mains power cable coming in to our property is corroded with visible rust and several mm less in diameter at this point than the rest of the cable. Keen on getting it replaced, but very un-keen paying a vast sum of money for it to be replaced.

 

Does anyone know if this would fall under necessary replacement by the supplier or would be considered aesthetic (which they will charge for)?

 

For very selfish reasons this has a 60A fuse so keen to get upgraded to a 100A for a future EV charger but would rather get it replaced for free for obvious reasons.

Report it to your DNO as a DANGEROUS condition.  Important you use that word to get their attention.  And don't touch it or poke it while you wait for them to attend.

 

Their cable, their responsibility to fix it, but expect part of your garden to need digging up to feed a new cable in.

Thanks Dave. Won't be poking it that's for sure. Reported to UK power networks. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't just wanting it done to look pretty

My experience is they will be happy to check it, and even if it turns out not to be at fault they won't charge you.

 

It might be that what you are seeing is just a conduit that is containing the cable and the cable inside is fine and it is just cosmetic, but you really want that diagnosis from the DNO

This matches my experience of a similar issue.
