Evening all,

Looking forward to finally completing battening upstairs in a couple of days - I then need to think about plumbing wastes etc  So Ive been pondering on the depth of the bathroom floor.  The plan is to cover the existing 18mm boards with electric ufh and then tiles, so how deep is this likely all to be?  Never done anything like this before so any advice is welcome!

Cheers

Mine are 15mm and 13mm respectively ...

That is 5mm ish of floor heating with SLC over and then one with a 6mm porcelain and one with a 8mm ceramic tile on a thin bed of adhesive.

SLC bed makes laying them a doddle  as it's perfectly flat.

Confused about what an SLC is? So if I allow 20mm I should be ok.

Was the electric ufh worth it?

Sorry - self leveling compound..! And yes, keeps the tiles toasty warm but only comes on for an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening.

So the elec ufh went straight down on the floor? I assume the slc was only deep enough to cover the electrics?

Yep pretty much - gave a nice level surface to tile onto. Wires were 4mm from memory and it was easier than using adhesive.
