Tony K
Evening. My electricity supplier wants an accurate breakdown of the required kVA load for my SB before they can arrange my connection to the grid. I don't have an architect I can palm this off to, having designed the place myself by and large. Any ideas who I can get to produce the figures? Is it one of those things that can be done with an online calculator, or do I need to employ someone? Cheers
Gus Potter
Often what you can do is to ask your preferred spark to work this out for you. Offer some money and.. if they feel they are going to get the job they will just do it for you, while at the same time giving you valuable tips on what and what not to do. It's often over looked but sometimes getting the spark involved early when you are not under pressure can save you a pile of thinking time later. TonyT
My opinion then is for the size of property and that you want to go for 3 phase would be to go for the 60amp supply

TonyT
Get the form from the DNO for your area. some are only interested in larger loads/ large motor/frequent starting loads. forget about lighting and power it’s negligible
ProDave
Why do you think you need 3 phase? nice to get if you can but not essential for that size of property. I would go in with 36kVA 3 phase, that would easily do all you want and loads more. If the DNO cough at that, ask them what they can provide. In other words pass the buck back to them. Three phase was the suggestion of the surveyor from the DNO, who advised future proofing. To be fair she gave me prices for single phase as well. TonyT
You could get 100 different answers for this question, so only you know what’s right, discuss with your sparky and get what you want.
