DamonHD
Given all the covid delays, and the fact that I finally got done two electrical storage updates this month (on- and off- grid), I now want to reschedule my heat battery plans for Feb/Mar/Apr next year: https://www.earth.org.uk/note-on-solar-DHW-for-16WW-UniQ-and-PV-diversion.html Any suggestions as to who might be happy to do an install etc? I'd probably ask Sunamp for a unit with stats available (if such a thing is possible) so that I can integrate it better with the rest of my storage and monitoring. So I'd be a technically-savvy but inquisitive client needing schematics etc! Rgds Damon
DamonHD
Ha! One step in the right direction! I had the Combimate fitted today (within a couple of hours of the package arriving!): https://www.earth.org.uk/note-on-solar-DHW-for-16WW-UniQ-and-PV-diversion.html#2021-10-11 Rgds Damon
DamonHD
This has moved on another step: I now have the myenergi eddi and hub, and I've started writing some of the control software to allow top-up at low grid carbon intensities in the wee hours in the winter... https://www.earth.org.uk/note-on-solar-DHW-for-16WW-UniQ-and-PV-diversion.html#2022-01-26 and here is a live display of that top-up (there is also a log) which updates at least every 10 minutes: https://www.earth.org.uk/_heat-battery-target.html Rgds Damon
DamonHD
I have now preconfigured my eddi (the sparks is not due for a couple of weeks) and have regular logging set up: https://www.earth.org.uk/note-on-solar-DHW-for-16WW-UniQ-and-PV-diversion.html#2022-02-06 Rgds Damon
DamonHD
Our Thermino 150 ePV went in yesterday. https://www.earth.org.uk/note-on-solar-DHW-for-16WW-UniQ-and-PV-diversion.html#2022-03-09 This evening after dark, my daughter had a shower and my son had a bath. All but a fraction of a kWh of the DHW covered from the Thermino: the combi cut in for the last couple of minutes of the bath fill. Since we also turned our central heating off the day before, I'm hoping that our gas consumption will be much much less than usual this month onwards, at least until circa September. Yesterdays technology, here is what is coming tomorrow. https://techxplore.com/news/2022-03-solution-thermal-energy-storage.html On a more serious note, do you know how much energy your house actually uses, once you take home generation into account. So imports + PV. Think I may turn of heating this weekend.
DamonHD
Yes, all energy flows recorded and analysed in excruciating detail, eg: https://www.earth.org.uk/saving-electricity-2022.html Without any of the storage or PV etc we'd be a low user for gas and electricity on Ofgem's scale. DamonHD
I'll get a better view at the end of April, but gas use is now about 0.5kWh/day, and will go lower if I can train my family not to whack the hot tap full on for 30s use (where hot water doesn't even get to the tap!)... https://www.earth.org.uk/note-on-solar-DHW-for-16WW-UniQ-and-PV-diversion.html#2022-04-11 Also these may be of interest: https://www.earth.org.uk/eddi-diverter-dataset.html https://www.earth.org.uk/heat-battery-topup-dataset.html Rgds Damon

DamonHD
Gas use for the whole of April was just over 1m^3, so ~0.38kWh/day. Thus a 90% reduction in direct gas burn. Result. https://www.earth.org.uk/note-on-solar-DHW-for-16WW-UniQ-and-PV-diversion.html#2022-04-30 Rgds Damon
DamonHD
An update: trying to pick the best fixed export (spill-to-grid) margin for my solar PV diversion to a heat battery: https://www.earth.org.uk/eddi-diverter-export-margin-analysis.html Rgds Damon
DamonHD
Gas consumption for 2023 was down to 1275kWh, the lowest ever. Electricity imports were 1364kWh, exports were 1597kWh. There are 4 of us in this house, newly (Feb 2024) given an EPC A. Overall energy carbon footprint for energy is ~200kg for the year. https://www.earth.org.uk/saving-electricity-2023.html Rgds Damon Edited February 14 by DamonHD
