ThomasD
I am installing roof trusses and have several which are doubled up, for example, in way of a Velux. My question is how are the doubled up roof trusses typically connected together? Just nailed or are they bolted? If bolted, would spiked connection plates be used in between them? Many thanks Edited August 13, 2021 by ThomasD
Russell griffiths
Ask the roof designer. You should have a truss layout sheet with all the connections listed on it. All hold down details and uplift straps should be on the same drawing.
markc
As above, the designer should specify the connections, bolted is rare, spikes plates (shear connectors) almost never. usual is 3inch annular ring nails staggered at 300-400mm centres.
