taggs101 Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Does this look the correct way to join grp to felt ? my roofer seems to think so, i'm not so sure. Any advice would be most welcome. Cheers
SteamyTea Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 It is relatively easy to put felt onto GRP, never tried the other way around as I know it would cause problems. Have they poured lots of bitumen onto the joint?
taggs101 Posted June 28, 2021 Author Posted June 28, 2021 not tons, but I really don't like the way the fibre glass is attached to the felt, supposedly it will give way over time, plus if the felt moves it will crack the joint.
Mr Punter Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 The upstand is fair enough. Neither GRP or felt look very good. As per @SteamyTea I would have thought felt on top of the GRP. I assume you re the GRP and your neighbour is the felt?

Though I expect it will fail after the summer, differential expansion, felt, being a type of 'wax' will also act as a release agent. Edited June 28, 2021 by SteamyTea
PeterW Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Felt looks knackered anyway - take it the neighbour wasn’t interested in having theirs done too..?
