WWilts
Attic height too low for habitable room, but interested in having storage space there without overburdening roof truss beams. Any suggestions?
joe90
I have done just that in our warm loft, used I beams fir rafters with 400mm insulation between, osb clad inside and sealed, foldable loft ladder into large loft with floor.

Did the roof truss supplier include the I Beam as part of the truss, or did you add I Beams between the roof trusses?
MortarThePoint
May be cheaper to ask the truss designer to include a loading in the truss design. You could then use loft legs: https://www.wickes.co.uk/Loftleg-Raised-Floor-Loft-Legs---175mm-Pack-of-12/p/100412

Interesting, I was hoping PIR sheets between the ceiling and attic floor boards would equal 250mm of regular loft insulation but was worried this could be a moisture trap and be a concern with insulated wires. Am I picturing the I beans correctly, do they sit inline and on top of the truss joists or are they laid across the truss direction?

Mine is warm (insulation under slates), My whole roof structure is made of I beams instead of rafters, the depth, 400mm, gives me 400mm for rockwall insulation.
