Jase Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 Hi all Just need a little advice need to box in a steel upstairs. Going to timber the sides of the steel for the fire board but due to hight problem can I just glue on the fire board on the bottom face of the steel. Will this pass building inspection ?. Regards jason
PeterW Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 Yep nothing wrong with that. May want to try and get a few screws into timbers shaped to sit on the flanges of the RSJ. 1
wozza Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 You could fit your timber noggins in the steel then battens onto the noggins and wall - you can then screw the PB to these and also screw up through the bottom PB into them. 1
tonyshouse Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 We used to wire the plasterboard on basically tying it on with wire! Banged in noggins make it easy, glue is a no no unless you wire it 1
Conor Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Can't you just paint it in intumescent paint if it's hidden? That's what I'm doing with all my (many, many) steels. 1
cherryfountain Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Have you looked at British Gypsum Gyplyner system
